Commitment to Sustainability & Giving Back

Keepster was invented to convert digital conversations into unique and personalized books. As a result, we recognize that our product is using precious and beautiful resources, trees! Therefore, we wanted to make sure that we figured out a way to counterbalance this situation. Moreover, we wanted to find a way to make sure our resource footprint skewed towards adding and growing more trees than we used to make Keepster books. Therefore, as part of our commitment to sustainability, we are supporting reforestation.

We’ve partnered with One Tree Planted to plant trees!

We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’re partnering with One Tree Planted to plant one tree for every Keepster book that is ordered.

Why we are planting trees

There are many great reasons why this program made so much sense for Keepster.

First, our products are print-on-demand and only Keepster Books that are ordered by our customers are actually printed to paper. But, a large part of our business is about printing books, and books are paper products. Therefore, we are continually aware we could not fulfill our orders for Keepster books without trees. It was only logical for us to replenish trees for what we are using to make our projects.

A single tree can yield as much as 20,000 sheets of paper. Compare that to the fact that a single Keepster Book can be between 4 to 800 pages. Thanks to One Tree Planted we can happily assure you that each book you order is a positive investment in reforestation.

We are thrilled by the thought that by replenishing one tree for each Keepster Book ordered, the result will be more trees planted than used. And it’s amazing what trees can do for our environment: they clean our air and water; create habitats for biodiversity; contribute to our health and wellbeing, and they can create jobs for social impact.

Finally, the hard truth is that we believe that climate change is real and as each year passes it becomes the worst fire season on record. As a Californian based company, we cannot avert our eyes or our conscience from the fires that have burned millions of acres in our state and in other parts of the world, causing devastation of both the natural habitat and people’s livelihoods and lives. It is our intention to help replenish trees that are also lost to global warming.

How we are planting trees

Each month we will tally the total number of Keepster Books ordered and determine the number of trees we will sponsor on behalf of our customers. Then, we will conduct monthly appraisals of the earth’s most threatening hotspots or regions where tree donations would be impactful and that’s where our donations will go. Through One Tree Planted’s network, we will be able to help with reforestation throughout the world. We look forward to sharing these updates with you, thereby spreading the word about One Tree Planted’s work on a regular basis.

When did we start planting trees

The idea to replenish trees has been a cornerstone of our philosophy from the very beginning. We proudly and officially launched the program in October 2020 and got caught up for orders fulfilled since launching our app in mid-2019.
