We take your privacy very seriously and understand how important it is to you!

In short, NO ONE!  Only YOU can see or read your messages:

• Your messages in your backup are only on your computer and are therefore completely private. The only people who could see them are those who can login to Keepster with your user name and password. 
• The Keepsters (folders) you create are securely stored on our encrypted private server. The Keepster support team can access these folders for customer service needs, but we must obtain explicit permission from the user via email or verified chat before we view the content.
• Keeper Books are professionally printed by a large scale printer.  The production process is highly automated with limited human assistance.  This ensures that your Keepster Book is opened for the very first time when it arrives at its destination.  We understand how important it is that the recipient is the first person to read it!

Only users who are able to log into the computer AND Keepster.  You must be logged into the computer with the Keepster Backup AND log into the Keepster app to access the messages in the backup. We hope that these precautions ensure that you are the only person with access to your backups.

IMPORTANT TIP:  We recommend that you require a password to log into your devices and computers.  We also recommend logging out of Keepster when you are not using the app.

The Keepster app has been built in a way to maintain your privacy & backup your messages.  In short:

• Your messages are backed up only on your computer and are therefore completely private. If you have a password login for your computer, then you are the only person who can view them.
• The Keepsters (folders) you create are securely stored on our private server. The Keepster app creates and manages these folders, but we do not view their content.
• The Keepster app is password protected. Please select Sign Out from the menu after using the app so no one can access it.

Most workplaces enforce strict security protocols, which is why we recommend you install Keepster only on your personal computers. But, if your work will allow you to install applications then you will be able to install Keepster on your work computer.

KEESPTER DOES NOT SUPPORT ENCRYPTED BACKUP ON WINDOWS or MAC   (updated Sept 2022)

Sorry, we do not support encrypted iTunes or Finder backups at this time.  If your backup is encrypted, please create a new backup that is not encrypted.  Keepster will then be able to access the backup to extract your messages.  

We understand that some customers prefer to encrypt their backups but when your backup is encrypted Keepster can't 'see' it. If you choose to use Keepster you will need to unencrypt but we have done everything we can to make you feel comfortable that your security and privacy are our top priority. Starting with, when you import your messages the backup that is created is fully local which means that those backed-up messages are only on your computer and not on any of our servers, and can only be accessed by you.

Only when you start to organize messages in folders will those messages in folders be synched to our server and encrypted. If you would like to move forward with Keepster here's a possible option:

1. Unencrypt and make a backup using iTunes or Finder.
2. Complete the Keepster backup.
3. Organize important messages into Keepster folders.
4. Delete your Keepster backup.
5. Encrypt and create a new backup using iTunes or Finder.

This will result in your important messages being saved in Keepster folders, and synched to our encrypted servers. The Keepster local backup will have been deleted and the Apple local backup will be back to encrypted.
