Answers to common questions we get on how to use Keepster ...
also, checkout the How-To section of our blog.
You can change the email address and password used to log into Keepster from the Account Management screen. Plus, you can even adjust your language preferences. Everything can be managed by logging into the app and clicking on the ‘hamburger' menu on the top right-hand side of the app screen and choosing "Account Management".
Yes! Apple does not allow you to change the location of your iPhone backup. But, if you are running out of space on your computer's hard drive, you can choose to save your Keepster data to an external drive. This has a small impact on the performance of Keepster, but in a pinch, this can be a useful way to get around space issues.
To change the location of where your Keepster data is stored, use the main 'hamburger' menu and choose Account Management. Then scroll down to the Data Management section. You will see a button to "choose folder ..." and select an alternative location to save your Keepster data. Once you select the new folder you wish to use, click "Save New Settings".
If you already have Keepster data on your computer hard drive, the Keepster app will automatically copy to the new location. Once all the data has been successfully copied, the data from the default location will be removed. This is so if something goes wrong during the process, the original data is not compromised. Please note, if your external drive is not connected to your computer, you will not be able to access your Keepster data.
If you ever want to move your data back to the default location, simple click the "Reset to Default" button and then save settings.
We have provided a feature in the Account Management section to allow you to purge all the data related to Keepster from your computer. This feature is useful if you want to have a clean slate to start new backups, or prior to closing your account.
To delete all the data from your computer, click the Account Management option on the main "hamburger" menu. Then scroll down to the Data Management section. You will see a "Clear Local Data" button. Once clicked, you will be prompted to enter your password and confirm you want to continue. Be careful, once you "clear local data" there is no way to recover the information. Once completed, you will see a confirmation message and the data used should be 0.0 GB.
Though we will be sorry to see you go, should you wish to close your account, you can do that at any time using the Account Management features. Please know, once closed your account can not be reopened. We will delete all your data from our servers.
To close your account:
You will be prompted to enter your password and confirm that you want to close your account. Click continue and wait for the system to process your request. When successfully completed, you will see a confirmation message.
Tip: Since you will be logged out of the Keepster app once you close your account ... you might want to "clear your local data" prior to closing the account. See our FAQ on how to do that.
